GENERAL

    Do I need a prescription to purchase Claratyne®?

    No, Claratyne® is available over the counter in pharmacies and all major supermarkets.

    Is Claratyne® non-drowsy?

    When taken as directed, all Claratyne® products are non-drowsy.

    What symptoms can I use Claratyne® to treat?

    Claratyne® is a non sedating antihistamine that can provide fast, non-drowsy, 24-hour relief of the symptoms of hayfever and year round allergies such as, sneezing, runny nose, watery/itchy eyes and itchy rash.

    What time of day should I take Claratyne®?

    Claratyne® can be taken any time of the day. Always follow the label directions. See individual product pages for label directions.

    How is Claratyne® to be taken?

    Take Claratyne® with a glass of water. It does not matter if you take Claratyne® before or after food.

    Should I take Claratyne® with food?

    Claratyne® can be taken with or without food.

    Can I cut or break Claratyne® in half?

    Do not cut or break Claratyne® products in half.

    Can I take more than the recommended dose of Claratyne®?

    Do not take more than the recommended dose—always follow label directions. See individual product pages for label directions.
    In case of overdose, we recommend that you contact your doctor, pharmacist or the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 for advice in Australia or National Poisons Centre on 0800 764 766 in New Zealand, or go to Accident and Emergency at your nearest hospital.

    What if my symptoms return before I am supposed to take another dose?

    Do not take another dose. Always follow the directions on the label. If symptoms persist after 5 days, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

    Can Claratyne® be used during pregnancy?

    If you are pregnant, please consult with your doctor before starting Claratyne® or if you become pregnant while you are taking Claratyne®.

    Can Claratyne® be used during breastfeeding?

    We recommend that breastfeeding women consult with their doctor before starting Claratyne®.

    CLARATYNE® TABLETS

      What is the active ingredient in Claratyne Tablets?

      Claratyne Tablets contain Loratadine. A non-sedating antihistamine that can provide fast, non-drowsy, 24 hour relief of the symptoms of hayfever and year round allergies such as, sneezing, runny nose, watery/itchy eyes and itchy rash.

      What does the Claratyne® tablet look like?

      Claratyne® tablets are small, white to off-white, oval tablets with a score on one side, and plain on the other.

      What are the available pack sizes?

      Claratyne® tablets are available in 5 and 10 tablets in major supermarkets and select convenience stores. Claratyne® tablets are available in 5, 10, 30, 60 and 80 tablets in pharmacy.

      Can I chew a Claratyne® tablet?

      Please swallow the tablet whole.

        What is the active ingredient in Children's Claratyne Chewable Tablets and Children's Claratyne Syrups?

        What are the available pack sizes of Children's Claratyne® Chewable Tablets?

        Children's Claratyne® Bubblegum chewable tablets: 10 tablets and 30 tablets.
        Children's Claratyne® Grape chewable tablets: 10 tablets and 30 tablets

        What are the available pack sizes of Children's Claratyne® Syrups?

        Claratyne® syrup (Grape Flavour) – AU: 60 mL and 120 mL.
        Claratyne® syrup (Peach Flavour) – AU: 60 mL and 150 mL.

        Can adults use Children’s Claratyne® Chewables?

        Yes, adults may use these products. Always follow the label directions for dosing information.

        Do I swallow a Children’s Claratyne® Chewable tablet or let it dissolve?

        Chew the product prior to swallowing.

        Children’s Claratyne® Chewables are available in grape and bubblegum flavours. Children’s Claratyne® Syrup is available in grape and peach flavour.

          What is the active ingredient in Children's ClaratyneDES Syrup?

          Children's ClaratyneDES Syrup contains Desloratadine. A non-sedating antihistamine that can provide fast, 24 hour relief of the symptoms of hayfever and year round allergies such as, nasal congestion, sneezing, itchy/runny nose, watery/itchy eyes, itchy palate, itchy skin and hives.

          What are the available pack sizes of Children’s ClaratyneDES Syrups?

          60 mL and 100 mL

          What flavours are available for Children’s ClaratyneDES Syrup?

          Children's ClaratyneDES Syrup is available in a great tasting bubblegum flavour.

          What is the dosage directions of Children’s ClaratyneDES Syrup?

          For Hayfever (Allergic Rhinitis)

          What is the difference between Aerius for Children syrup and Children’s ClaratyneDES syrup?

          Aerius for Children syrup has been rebranded to Children’s ClaratyneDES syrup. The formulation has not changed, Children’s ClaratyneDES syrup is the same as Aerius for Children syrup, just with a new name and look. Children’s ClaratyneDES syrup and Aerius for Children syrup contains the active ingredient, desloratadine 2.5 mg/5 mL.

          Both Aerius for Children and Children’s ClaratyneDES syrups are indicated for perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis (hayfever and year round allergies) in adults, adolescents and children aged 12 months and over; and chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives) in adults, adolescents and children aged 6 months and over.

          Can I give my child both Children’s Claratyne syrup (loratadine) and Children’s ClaratyneDES syrup (desloratadine)?

          Children’s Claratyne syrup contains the active ingredient loratadine and Children’s ClaratyneDES syrup contains the active ingredient desloratadine. Both products are indicated for the relief of perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis (hayfever and year round allergies) and provide 24 hour relief. Only one product should be used daily as necessary, they should not be used at the same time.

          Always read the label and follow the directions for use. Talk to your health professional for medical advice on which product is right for your child.

          Can I still buy Aerius for Children syrups or have Aerius for Children syrups been discontinued?

          Aerius for Children Syrup has been rebranded to Children’s ClaratyneDES Syrup. The formulation has not changed, Children’s ClaratyneDES syrup is the same as Aerius for Children syrup, just with a new name and look. Children’s ClaratyneDES syrups and Aerius for Children syrups contain the active ingredient, desloratadine 2.5 mg/5 mL.

          Aerius for Children syrups will appear in market until stock has been depleted. Once stock has been depleted, Aerius for Children syrup will no longer be available in Australia and will be replaced by Children’s ClaratyneDES Syrup.

            Can Claratyne Saline Nasal Spray or Children’s Claratyne Saline Nasal Spray be used with Claratyne (loratadine) tablets, syrup, or chewable tablets?

            Claratyne Saline Nasal Spray or Children’s Claratyne Saline Nasal Spray is a non-medicated formula that can be added to yours or your child's allergy regime. Saline nasal sprays help to cleanse mucus, irritants and allergens such as dust and pollens from the nose and hydrate the nasal passages.

            Can I use Claratyne Saline Nasal Spray for my baby?

            Claratyne Saline Nasal Spray is suitable for adults and children 15 days of age and older.

            What does Isotonic mean?

            Isotonic saline solution means the solution is the same saline concentration as in your body.

              Claratyne Saline Nasal Spray or Children’s Claratyne Saline Nasal Spray is a non-medicated formula that can be added to yours or your child's allergy regime. Saline nasal sprays help to cleanse mucus, irritants and allergens such as dust and pollens from the nose and hydrate the nasal passages.

              When does Children's Claratyne Saline Nasal Spray Expire?

              Children’s Claratyne Saline Nasal Spray expiry date can be found on the bottom of the carton and also on the bottle label. However, it should be discarded 6 months from the date of fi rst use.

              Can I use Children’s Claratyne Saline Nasal spray for my baby?

              Children’s Claratyne Saline Nasal Spray is suitable for children and newborns from 15 days of age and older.

              What does Isotonic mean?

              Isotonic saline solution means the solution is the same saline concentration as in your body.
