Overview
If you or your children suffer from allergies, you’ll be very familiar with the effects, both physical and emotional.
The symptoms are often linked to the physical point of contact with the substance causing the problem, so they are focused around the nose, throat and eyes of hayfever sufferers, and anywhere on the body for those with skin allergies.
Blocked noses, sore eyes and itchy skin conditions like hives and eczema can all affect sleep, so allergies also affect the ability to function at your best.
Most allergic reactions are irritating though not severe. But in the case of some nut, insect bite and shellfish allergies they can actually be life-threatening. In these cases, ‘anaphylaxis’ can cause breathing difficulties and even heart failure, requiring immediate emergency treatment.
